Director of Programs and Operations
Colleen has been with TVL since 2013. Originally from Canada, she was raised in a small east coast town with just 1500 people - less people than the village of Golu, TVL’s first village. In 2006 she earned her Bachelors of Business Management from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Soon after earning her degree pursued a career in advertising and marketing in Toronto - where she had a successful 8 year career working with top brands such as Microsoft, Samsung, Wonderbread and Canada’s National Lottery Brands - Lotto Max & 6/49.
Soon after her move to the U.S. in 2012 she followed her long-time passion to work with nonprofits. She got her feet wet working with the Global Women’s Leadership Network, where she was their Marketing Manager and lead their transition from a fiscal sponsored non-profit with Santa Clara University to an independent 501(c)3. She worked closely with the Director and was responsible for reimaging the brand, building and managing new website, and bringing brand consistency across all marketing channels. During her free time you'll catch Colleen mostly likely by the coast somewhere taking photos of almost anyone and anything. She's passionate photography and rural development and believes it's a great platform to share stories. You'll see many of her photos and stories throughout this site and TVL's social media channels. With a decade of experience in for-profit and non-profit, Colleen's experience aligns nicely with our approach to rural sustainability development.
